Spend a day in the heart of Bendigo's Arts Precinct learning the ancient craft of bookbinding, hands-on, under the guidance of an experienced bookbinder.
You'll learn the fundamentals of traditional hand-sewn hardcover binding while working with quality materials and the tools of the trade. No experience necessary.
By the end of the day you'll leave with a book you made yourself, and the skills to make more.

Introduction to Leather Binding

Take your bookbinding further with a full day of hands-on leather work in the heart of Bendigo's Arts Precinct, guided by an experienced bookbinder.
You'll learn to create a half leather binding with classic raised bands, working with quality leather and traditional tools of the trade. This workshop is designed for those with a little previous binding experience — if you've made a book of some kind before, you're ready. By the end of the day you'll leave with a beautifully bound book and the skills to bind many more.

BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT: INTRO TO LEATHER BINDING [$297]
Take your bookbinding further with this intermediate course in traditional leather binding. Simon guides you through two complete tracks — half-leather and full-leather binding — covering everything from paring and covering to finishing touches, across four in-depth chapters.
*This course assumes existing bookbinding skills. Section-sewing and book block forwarding are not covered.
Guard Book (photo album) Mini Course [$47]
A Guard Book is a special type of binding, perfect for photo albums and art collections. It’s unique design lets you attach items to the pages without making the book look overly thick or 'bulked out'. This course teaches the intermediate bookbinder how to create the inner pages, or ‘book block’ in this style of binding
