Magazine Binding

Customers often ask me to bind their magazine collections into a hard cover.  Magazine, or Periodical binding as it's often called, is a fairly straight-forward process that invovles removing the staples and sewing the magazines together into a book form to create volumes.

A hard cover is then created from either bookcloth (Buckram) or leather or sometimes a combination of the two.  To complete the binding embossing is added to the spine and/ or front of the book.  The embossing usually consists of a title, volume number and dates.

The completed volumes bound in blue buckram with gold stamping on the spine.

Binding magazines into a hard cover will protect and preserve the magazines for many years.  It turns a bunch of magazines into an easy and organised reference with the added bonus that they look really good on the bookshelf.

The highly edited clip below (it definitely takes longer than 5minutes!) will give you a quick look at what we can do with your collection.  Keep in mind that you that there are a huge number of cover options and colours.  For further cover ideas and inspiration you can look at our online shop, check out our custom binding gallery or visit us on View Street.
